About Jo Morgan Sloan

Jo Morgan Sloan is a Colorado native and a California transplant. They have been actively writing fiction and nonfiction since late 2013.

As part of the writing process, Jo has dedicated many hours of research in the psychology and healing of sexual assault survivors, PTSD, Narcissistic and Borderline personality disorders, LGBTQA+ community issues, and American Sign Language (ASL). They're well-versed in Norse mythology, Marvel comics, Dungeons and Dragons, the American health care system (as a provider and patient), orchids, tarantulas, and much more.

Apart from their work as an author, Jo serves the local community as a doctor of Audiology, though their trans status as nonbinary is not widely known. They are an oft-requested guest speaker and instructor for a variety of topics relating to audiology and other passions. Public speaking is their strength.

Jo is a musician, an artist, a mother, a spouse, and a sibling to one incredible sister. They are a survivor of suicide loss. Jo also lives with a myriad of "invisible diseases" that impact their everyday life. Though some of these struggles are debilitating, Jo is grateful for all the things they are fully capable of.

While several aspects of Jo's life are intensely personal, they are a pansexual trans-masculine nonbinary person in active transition (don't panic over pronouns, though they/them are preferred). Any and all representations of LGBTQA+ characters are brought to life through Jo's own experiences and/or heavy interviewing. They have no intent to present characters different from their personal identification in a disrespectful or ignorant manner, and Jo frequently seeks clarification to increase their understanding and stay current with labels and/or social issues.

While Jo writes across all physical pairings, any marginalized characters (particularly LGBTQA+) found in his content are created alongside people who identify as those characters do, and as such, co-authors may be listed in such cases. They will not take up space in the publishing world where stories may be more appropriately told by OWNVoice content creators.Jo uses writing as a way to explore themself, and as a way to cope with life's many curveballs. They sincerely hope anyone who reads this content will find hope, comfort, positive relatability, and will know they aren't alone.

Jo's motto is, "I'm a fixer, not a fusser."
